Kids, Teens, and Chiropractic: What Two 2026 Studies Found
As a parent, you want care for your child that is gentle, thoughtful, and centered on their needs. Two new studies published in September 2026 provide a clearer look at why families take children to the chiropractor and how parents describe their experience.
WHY FAMILIES TURN TO CHIROPRACTIC
A research team in Australia and Canada examined visits from 605 young people, ages 17 and under, cared for by 79 chiropractors. (1) Health maintenance was the leading reason for a visit in each age group, showing that many families think of chiropractic as one piece of keeping their kids healthy and active. Back problems were the most common issue chiropractors diagnosed, and teens accounted for nearly half of all visits. That's no surprise, since growing bodies, heavy backpacks, sports, and long stretches of screen time all challenge young spines.
PARENTS FEEL HEARD AND RESPECTED
A second study surveyed 671 parents before and after their child's course of chiropractic care. (2) Parents rated three areas of their experience: communication, shared decision-making, and the respect and warmth from the chiropractor and office staff. Overall, parents reported favorable experiences across all three areas, and their satisfaction with care was positive. In short, parents felt listened to, part of the decision-making, and treated kindly, which means so much when the patient is your child.
