TIP OF THE MONTH:

How Is Your Vitamin B12 Status?

Vitamin B12 maintains the health of nerves and blood cells. Mild B12 deficiency may be unnoticed. More advanced B12 deficiency may produce anemia, tiredness, pale skin, appetite drop, constipation, diarrhea, heart palpitations, etc. One bothersome condition related to B12 deficiency is subacute combined degeneration of the spinal cord after nitrous oxide anesthesia. (2) Improving B12 status can help. B12 may be delivered orally or via injection. One injection study showed that B12 eased low back pain and disability and lowered patients’ use of paracetamol for pain relief. (3) B12 deficiency may be avoided by eating meat, poultry, seafood, dairy products, and eggs or taking B12 supplements. Talk with your Auburn chiropractor about the best approach for you toward healthy B12 status!
