GROWING SUPPORT FOR CHRONIC LBP RELIEF WITH COX® TECHNIC

Chiropractic researchers and everyday clinical practitioners like your Auburn chiropractor at Dr. Le's Chiropractic & Wellness, L.L.C. witness the relief of pain and return of function. Some publish their results for everyone to see! A recently published case report of a 67 year old male veteran coping with chronic low back pain and occasional right leg pain described relief with Cox® Technic care. The patient reported dealing with this pain for decades. In 4 weeks and 4 visits of flexion distraction treatment together with moist heat and soft-tissue mobilization, he reported improvement in his condition, decreased pain medication usage, and enhanced mobility. (1) That is a welcome result for this back pain sufferer!

WHAT’S UP WITH CHRONIC LOW BACK PAIN? Spinal Manipulation’s Help

Chronic low back pain like that described by the veteran in this case report is very common and can be very disabling. Spinal manipulation is endorsed for the management of chronic low back in several guidelines backed by such groups as the American Pain Society and the American College of Pain Physicians. (2,3) With chronic low back pain, central sensitization – the effect of repetitive nerve stimulation has on the central nervous system - is thought to contribute to chronicity of pain.  Spinal manipulation’s benefit may well come from its impact on this sensitization. (4) That is a benefit chronic back pain sufferers can tolerate.

SPINAL MANIPULATION BETTER FOR CHRONIC LOW BACK PAIN…REGARDLESS OF AGE

A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (47 RCTs and 9211 participants) of spinal manipulation care for chronic low back pain described that spinal manipulation created similar effects to other recommended therapies of chronic low back pain (like exercise and drug therapy), was better than non-recommended intervention for short-term improvement, and had limited, mild-to-moderate, momentary adverse effects. (5) Another such meta-analysis concluded that spinal manipulation looked to be a good option for pain relief and function improvement for chronic low back pain sufferers. (6) In a meta-analysis specifically focused on older (ages 65-91 y/o) chronic low back pain sufferers, the same deductions were found: spinal manipulation should be thought to be a positive treatment for the older chronic low back pain sufferer for pain relief and function improvement. (7) Most spinal manipulation is done by chiropractors according to the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health. (8) And chiropractors like yours at Dr. Le's Chiropractic & Wellness, L.L.C. studied extra in the delivery of the gentle, non-thrust form of spinal manipulation known as Cox® Technic which well recognized for its treatment of disc herniation and spinal stenosis pain as well as more routine spinal pain conditions.
