Frankincense and myrrh, two esteemed
gifts sourced from the gum resins of trees - the Boswellia
and the Commiphora, respectively – make amazing
partners in healing! Both have been incorporated
throughout history in perfume, incense, aromatherapy, and medicine, especially
Chinese medicine. Their anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, antioxidant, and more properties
address issues with a variety of health
conditions, many that Dr. Le's Chiropractic & Wellness, L.L.C. sees in our Auburn chiropractic patients who may
want to know more!
THE COMBINATION: Frankincense and Myrrh
Chinese medicine admires frankincense
and myrrh for their extensively beneficial
health effects. Used together, their anti-inflammatory and
analgesic effects and significantly for anti-tumor effects stopped
growth of U266 multiple myeloma cells. (1) In Chinese medicine, frankincense-myrrh
are components of an anti-tumor drug for a variety of
cancers with the latest research presenting
its effect on hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). How? By controlling
pathological processes like cytokine-receptor binding and pathways and affecting
the blood vessels that feed tumors in HCC. Tumor
volume was reduced, and pathological structure was reduced
with frankincense and myrrh treatment. (2) Low dose frankincense/myrrh modulated
urotheilial wound healing to help symptoms of acute interstitial
cystitis/painful bladder syndrome. (3) The
frankincense/myrrh combo proves itself to be a
winning/healing one!
NEUROPATHIC PAIN
Dr. Le's Chiropractic & Wellness, L.L.C. welcomes combinations of
treatments to help our Auburn chiropractic patients looking for
healing. Chinese medicine treats diabetic neuropathy, a critical
complication of diabetes and cause of kidney disease,
by controlling pathways involved in the
glucose/lipid metabolism regulation, antioxidation,
anti-inflammation, anti-fibrosis, etc. (4) Chinese medicine treatment of neuropathic
pain commonly involves the frankincense-myrrh combination as it is explained
as being able to stimulate blood and dissipate
blood stasis. The frankincense-myrrh treatment
was tested and found to ease neuropathic
pain likely related to neuro-inflammatory agents TLR4 and MyD88 and to averting TRPV1 and inflammatory factor expression. (5). Dr. Le's Chiropractic & Wellness, L.L.C.
knows all this detail may not be “up your alley” of wanting
to know, but we want to share
the whole story if only to highlight how well frankincense-myrrh eases neuropathic pain, a great result!
