Your Auburn chiropractor knows
your spine! Dr. Le's Chiropractic & Wellness, L.L.C. knows anatomy. Back in
chiropractic school, your chiropractor learned a lot
about anatomy of the spine and utilizes that knowledge daily. Knowing the anatomy of the
spine is always
at the forefront of your chiropractor’s mind as you and each spine pain, neck
pain, back pain patient comes through the door!
It’s so exciting! (Are you not you delighted
someone finds it exciting?)
LEARNING ANATOMY IN SCHOOL
When we were in school, we’re
all guilty of learning only to pass a test. Going
to professional school, such learning is more vital
than ever since it will affect everyday work. (How much
do you remember from your high school or college days?) An
international survey of chiropractors and anatomists found
that chiropractors thought that a higher level of anatomy instruction
during chiropractic school was advantageous
for clinical practice, allowing better understanding,
application, and analysis of anatomical information to support
a clinical decision in their daily clinical practice. (1) An Australian study
of chiropractors compared their knowledge of anatomy to that of chiropractic
students. The chiropractic practitioners rated their knowledge of anatomy and proved it by taking a test of their knowledge. This was contrasted
to the equivalent in their chiropractic student counterparts. The
chiropractors demonstrated that they retained their
knowledge of anatomy - and knew they did! – breaking the hypothesis
that chiropractic practitioners may not retain
it after school. Knowledge of anatomy is used
daily in chiropractic practice, and chiropractors understand
their anatomy. (2) Your Auburn chiropractor does! We’ll be happy to talk about it!
SPINAL ANATOMY KNOWLEDGE PUT TO USE IN CHIROPRACTIC CLINICAL
PRACTICE
Applying spinal manipulation daily uses knowledge of the spine’s anatomy every day.
The most ordinary reasons people said they
sought chiropractic care were low back pain (49.7%), neck pain (22.5%), and
extremity issues (10.0%). The most common treatment they experienced
were spinal manipulation (79.3%), soft tissue therapy (35.1%), and formal
patient education (31.3%). (3) Spinal conditions get plenty of attention from chiropractic patients and their
chiropractors, of course! But fortunate side effects of
chiropractic care emerge in the medical literature as well
like potential cardiovascular benefit. In a placebo-controlled, assessor-blinded,
randomized trial, researchers reported on the immediate effects
of upper thoracic spine manual therapy on cardiovascular autonomic control of patients with musculoskeletal pain (ie, back pain, spine pain,
neck pain, etc.). The researchers explained that musculoskeletal
pain increased the risk of cardiovascular events. (4) Come feel
these benefits of chiropractic treatment based on knowledge
of the spine’s anatomy.
