It is suggested that it’s due to low back pain and reduced abdominal muscles during and after pregnancy that sets up the spine for this condition. (3) One study stresses the fact that weak abdominal muscles affect the stability of the spine and likely contribute to the condition called degenerative spondylolisthesis.
