Auburn CHIROPRACTIC TIP OF THE MONTH: Strengthen the Quadratus Lumborum

The quadratus lumborum – a quadrilateral-shaped muscle - is a paired muscle on both sides of the abdominal wall. It’s a deep muscle and typically thought of as a back muscle as it stretches from the 12th rib to the upper 4 lumbar vertebrae. When contracted, the quadratus lumborum causes lateral flexion of the lumbar spine and/or elevation of the pelvis. (5) Various bridge-type exercises are being examined about the way in which they strengthen the quadratus lumborum’s 2 layers of muscle in order for it to best add to the motor control of the lumbar pain and stop back pain. (6) Dr. Le's Chiropractic & Wellness, L.L.C. and you can talk about how your spine may benefit from such exercise at your next Auburn chiropractic visit to Dr. Le's Chiropractic & Wellness, L.L.C..
