It’s summer harvest time in the US. The
garden bounty is aplenty! Every family circle seems
to have at least one avid gardener with more
tomatoes and green beans and peppers than he or she can use on his/her own. Luckily for us, generosity
abounds in gardeners. Dr. Le's Chiropractic & Wellness, L.L.C. urges
Auburn chiropractic patients to gratefully accept
those tomatoes, peppers, and green beans
and eat them for a remarkable anti-oxidant and nutritional
boost to fight inflammation, heart disease, cancer, and more! Dr. Le's Chiropractic & Wellness, L.L.C. welcomes
all of these benefits!
ANTI-OXIDANT, ANTI-INFLAMMATORY, ANTI-DISEASE
Dr. Le's Chiropractic & Wellness, L.L.C. knows this is an incredible
list of benefits. It’s hard to split
these actions from each other! They are all healthy benefits.
Tomatoes are so nutrient rich, supplying vitamin C,
potassium and lycopene, an anti-oxidant that benefits cancer and
heart disease prevention and anti-inflammatory activity. (1,2) To boost
absorption of lycopene, eat tomatoes with some flavorful,
healthy fats like olives, avocados or related oils. (3) Bell and
chili peppers are filled with vitamins C, A, E, K1 as
well as potassium, folic acid and fiber. [We all could use
a bit more fiber in our diets! Speaking of fiber,
green beans are marvelous sources. Plus,
they have many proteins, carotenoids, and
anti-oxidants with only a small number of calories. Nutrients in green beans are reported to
also be anticarcinogenic, assisting the prevention and even the stopping the spread of some cancers throughout the
body. (4, 5, 6)] Further, peppers help
fight inflammation, too, with their anti-oxidants. Raw and roasted peppers offer
anti-oxidant benefits. Roasting may raise or lower those
benefits depending on the pepper type and growth stage. (7,8,9) Either way, your Auburn
chiropractor encourages you to enjoy some peppers, tomatoes,
and green beans! Your body will repay you!
